PLAINVILLE, Mass. -- While posing as a home buyer, a woman allegedly stole $10,000 worth of jewelry during an open house.

Millene Wilmarth, 32, of North Attleboro, was taken into custody after she allegedly tried to sell the stolen valuables to a local jewelry shop.

The homeowners contacted Plainville police after realizing their valuables were missing. Officers then alerted local jewelry stores and pawnshops to be on the lookout for someone trying to cash in on stolen jewelry.

The real estate agent had kept Wimarth's information because was said to be "acting weird" during the open house.

Police are advising people who have hosted an open house recently to go home and check their belongings to see if anything is missing.
