Local couple saves drowning victim

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- A local couple saved a woman from drowning in Wakefield Friday morning.

James Puccio was taking his daily walk around Crystal Lake when he said that he noticed a woman in the water. She was face down and all Puccio could see was the back of her head. He quickly called his wife and authorities.

When his wife arrived the Puccio had pulled the woman almost fully out of the water, she jumped in to help.

The couple carried the woman out before help arrived, but she was unresponsive.

The victim was evaluated in the ambulance and transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital.

She is listed in fair condition.
