Heavily armed man arrested in traffic stop

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Manchester, N.H., police say when they pulled over a pickup with a noisy muffler early Friday, and found the driver wearing a bullet-proof vest and carrying two loaded handguns.

Police say 39-year-old William Walker of Grafton was wearing the vest under his clothing and had the guns and numerous loaded ammunition clips concealed in his waistband.

The police report does not indicate why Walker was so heavily armed and wearing the vest.

He is charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit as well as driving with a suspended license and misuse of license plates.

A passenger was charged with disorderly conduct.
