Police raid underage party in woods following death of Norfolk teen

PLAINVILLE, Mass. -- Police have been stepping up patrols to stop underage drinking following the death of a Norfolk teen last month.

17-year-old Taylor Meyer was found dead after going to an underage drinking party.

Since then, police have been cracking down on teen parties in the area.

Police arrested 15 teenagers drinking in a hidden shelter that they built in the woods.

The sheltered area was off Walnut St. about 15 minutes into the woods.

Officials received information about the shelter and decided to raid the hideaway Friday night.

Beer, liquor, and marijuana were found at the scene.

All the teens were released to their parents and will be in court on Monday.

Police Chief Edward Merrick said the punishment may not be harsh, but he hopes it sends a message to the teens about the consequences of underage drinking.
