BOSTON (WHDH) -- As the blizzard roared into Boston, a couple from San Diego were dealing with a storm of their own.

“We essentially planned an elaborate wedding in about two hours,” said Bill O’Donovan.

Bill O’Donovan and Gina Rondinelli have family members on the east coast so they decided to have their wedding here.

But the place where they had planned to get married suddenly canceled on them because of the storm.

“When they cancelled the venue, that's when I was like “oh oh, this isn't going to happen’” said Rondinelli.

They were determined and luckily for them, they called the Park Plaza in Newton.

Workers there were ready to make their dream wedding a reality, just moments after a massive snow storm.

"They were just amazing. Absolutely amazing. I can't say enough about the people here and the job they've done,” said O’Donovan.

Now, the couple has a big reason to remember their anniversary and despite the big curve ball from Mother Nature, they're happy they decided to tie the knot here.

"I’ve been here several times and always enjoyed Boston and plan to come back when the weather's a little different,” said Joe Rondinelli, father of the bride.

The groom says just about everyone they invited made it for their big day.

It was one of two weddings held today in the state that we know of.

Another couple got married this afternoon in North Andover.
