BOSTON (WHDH) -- Police are investigating two mysterious deaths at a housing complex in Roslindale.
Emergency responders were at a public housing complex on 1 Cliffmont Street Thursday where two men in their 50s were found dead. Police said a woman, also in her 50s, appeared to have been suffering from similar symptoms and was rushed to the hospital. She is said to have life-threatening injuries.
“At this time it looks like some sudden deaths that are unique, that the timing and the symptoms were similar, just making sure that it’s not more than that,” said Supt. Daniel Linskey of the Boston police department.
Police have ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning. Sources said the three individuals were friends and known to be heavy drinkers so police are investigating the possibility of alcohol poisoning.
“These three folks were known to each other. They were friends,” said Bill McGonagle, Boston housing authority administrator.
Police first responded to the Roslyn Apartments for the elderly and disabled Wednesday afternoon. That’s when officials said they found the first man dead. Authorities said they found the second man’s body on Thursday. They then found the woman when they went to her apartment for a well-being check.
“We’re looking at toxicology…the other patient is still alive at the hospital…in very serious condition,” said Linskey.
Housing authority officials said they conducted well-being checks on all the residents that live in the building. They said they brought in trauma councilors for them also.
