Boston law firm says it has hired Middlesex DA
BOSTON (AP) -- The law firm of Nixon Peabody says it has hired Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone as a partner in the firm's Boston office.
The firm said Leone is scheduled to join the firm on April 29.
Leone announced in January that he would not seek re-election to a third term in November 2014, but had not previously indicated that he would leave office before the end of his term.
The DA's office did not have any immediate comment.
Nixon Peabody announced the hiring of Leone in a press release, saying the firm's government Investigations and white collar defense practice.
The hiring would be the second high-profile Massachusetts political figure by Nixon Peabody this month. Former Republican Sen. Scott Brown recently joined the firm to work in business and governmental affairs.
