Bostonians hope to win big with Powerball jackpot
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Another crack at being a big-time millionaire! It’s the sixth largest jackpot in Powerball history.
“Usually when it gets up over a couple hundred its worth playing,” said a hopeful Powerball player.
The whopping grand prize is $320 million.
Bob King's daughter is getting married next month and this could help.
“I don’t hold out hope of winning, but you can’t win unless you play, right?” said King.
With the lump sum just shy of $200 million, players are dreaming of striking it rich.
“It gets crazy but I like it,” said the cashier.
The tickets are flying.
“For a buck how can you go wrong, right?” said a customer.
“I have four kids’ tuition so that’s basically the big thing,” said a customer.
“It’s just exciting to do, when it gets high like this,” said the cashier.
And for some, there's just too much money at stake to wrap their head around.
When one customer was asked how he would spend the big bucks, he said, “I couldn’t even tell you, but I’d enjoy it, for sure.”
The store is expecting to sell more than 10,000 tickets on Saturday alone. The odds of winning are 1 in 175 million, but they aren’t high enough to discourage thousands from playing.
