Lane restrictions to resume on Tobin Bridge
BOSTON (AP) -- Motorists who use the Tobin Bridge to commute to and from Boston could be facing some delays in the weeks and months ahead.
State transportation officials say a lane restriction will go into effect on Monday as the second phase of a three-year rehabilitation project gets under way on the bridge.
There will be three lanes instead of two on the bridge for the remainder of the construction season through November.
MassDOT says drivers should consider alternate routes or taking public transportation.
The project, which began last spring, involves steel preservation and painting on the 53-year-old bridge over the Mystic River.
