Savin Hill Little League pays tribute to Martin Richard
DORCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- The Savin Hill Little League is paying tribute to 8-year-old Martin Richard who was killed in the Boston Marathon bombing.
The league's outfield has been painted with Martin's name and his jersey number eight.
Friday afternoon, teammates of the youngest Marathon bombing victim picked up their uniforms for the season.
Parents who knew Martin and his mother can't believe he won't be there anymore.
“It’s awful, it’s sad, he should be here. He’s, I can’t event talk. It’s awful. Denise was a nice young girl. I knew her growing up. Just a tragedy, tragic thing that he can’t be here today. My son is here. Just awful,” a mother said.
A ceremony will be held at the field on Saturday before the first pitch is thrown.
