Homeowner cited for violations after Allston fatal fire
ALLSTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- The landlord of the Allston home where a Boston University student died in a fire is being cited by the city for illegal occupancy.
Inspectional Services says the owner is in trouble because they did not change the occupancy from a two-family home to a building where 19 people were living. The landlord is also cited for letting people live in the basement.
The Linden Street home started on fire early Sunday morning. BU senior Binland Lee, 22, was killed in the fire. Lee was from Brooklyn and was a Marine Biology major. She was set to graduate this fall.
