Kayna Whitworth joins Adams Williams for Best Buddies
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Kayna Whitworth will be joining Adam Williams as co-captain of Team Tom Brady. Last year Adam alone raised over $16,000 so there’s a lot of fundraising to do - and a lot of training!
“Biking, it’s like going for an adventure. There’s a great goal to reach at the end,” said a bike shop pro.
The goal? To raise money for the Best Buddy Program and help people with intellectual disabilities find fuller lives. Since Kayna and Adam are on Team Tom Brady, their goal is also completing 100 miles on a bike. But before the wheels hit the road - Kayna needed some wheels!
Kayna set off to Wheel Works in Belmont to get outfitted.
“The bike only has three things to offer: good fit, good comfort and good fun,” said a Wheel Works worker.
Then there's the gear. One finger over the brow - that’s an important thing to remember when fitting a helmet.
“Where putting these cleats into the bottom of the shows,” Kayna pointed out, “so that then they can click into the pedals. That way when you ride, you’re not only pushing down on the pedal but you’re pushing up on it as well.”
Then it’s time to make sure Kayna and the bike fit together perfectly. With 8 sensors placed on Kayna they create a 3D image of how my body functions on the bike making adjustments by the millimeter.
Once she was sized up and ready to ride - Kayna was off to meet with Adam and start training!
Their training has begun! Wish them luck and help them out by joining them in the Best Buddy Challenge or making a donation.
