Bombing victim to stop at Fenway, then return home to RI
BOSTON (WHDH) -- A Rhode Island woman who lost her foot in the Boston Marathon bombing is heading home.
Heather Abbott will leave the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital on Saturday.
Doctors said she is making great progress.
Instead of traveling back to Rhode Island, Abbott’s first stop will be Fenway Park. The last place she was before the bombing.
“I thought about how that would feel, but when I was at Fenway nothing had happened yet and I had a great time with my friends…the friends who were in the bombing with me will be sitting with me tomorrow, none of them had any injuries, but they’ve been incredibly supportive,” said Abbott.
Abbott, 38, said she is looking forward to continuing her rehabilitation and getting her prosthetic foot.
