Warning for women in Beacon Hill
BEACON HILL, Mass. (WHDH)-- A warning for women on Beacon Hill. Three violent attacks in as many days, targeting women on their home as police are increasing their patrols there.
Women are being told to watch following a string of sidewalk attacks.
“I’m just carrying my phone with me and making sure I’m constantly looking around to see if I see anyone out of the ordinary,” said Jennifer Vance who is taking extra precautions.
Boston Police have put extra patrols on the Hill following reports of three similar assaults all targeting women who were approached from behind.
“A friend of mine reached out to me and was very scared,” said Joanna Berliner, concerned about the assaults. “My parents reached out to me.”
The first attack happened in the afternoon, a woman was groped while she was reaching for her keys. The suspect took off headed for Phillips Street where two more attacks were reported. Another woman was entering her building where she was knocked town and sexually assaulted. A third woman says she passed a man on the sidewalk, he doubled back, grabbed her, groped her and ran.
“It's scary. You have to be alert as a young lady in the area,” one woman said.
“It is a little unsettling, but really all you can do is just keep an eye out for each other,” said Vance.
Police say the first attack happened around 2:00 on Thursday afternoon. The next two attacks happened just minutes apart late Friday night.
