Violent attacks on women in Mission Hill
MISSION HILL, Mass. (WHDH)--Police asked people to be on the lookout following alarming back to back attacks.
The first happening around two o'clock in the morning and targeting a young woman walking near Huntington and Vancouver Street.
“Of course it's scary, especially a young person walking around,” one woman said.
Police said a man was hiding in the bushes. They said he jumped out, grabbed a woman from behind, and tried to sexually assault her. She got away after she was stabbed in the leg.
Just an hour later police found another young woman stabbed nearby.
“Very disturbing. I’m trying to warn all my friends not to walk around by themselves,” said another woman.
The second woman was walking in the area around Huntington Avenue and Parker Hill Street when police said a man grabbed her, also from behind, and forced her to the ground. She got away too but she was stabbed in the hand first.
“That’s scary. A knife is a lot more personal than a gun. You have to get really up close to someone. That's a lot of intent right there,” one man said.
Because of the similarity of the attacks police are considering whether they are related but they don't have any suspects yet.
