Little league coach faces child pornography charge
BOSTON (WHDH) -- A little league coach in Boston’s South End is facing a child pornography charge.
Andrew McKinnon was arraigned in court Friday morning on a charge of child pornography. Investigators say McKinnon, who is a local little league coach, had a sexually explicit picture of an underage girl on his home computer.
Prosecutors said state police found the picture online during an undercover investigation and were able to trace it back to McKinnon late last month.
On Thursday, a warrant was issued to search his home and computer.
“That same image was found on the defendant’s computer and he admitted that computer was his,” said Emily Hamrock, assistant district attorney.
McKinnon’s lawyer argues his client, who has lived in Massachusetts for 25 years, has no prior record.
“The charge here has absolutely no allegation to have had any contact with any child -- nothing. He is being charged with having an image on a computer in his home,” said defense attorney Michael Roitman.
McKinnon’s bail was set at $150,000. His next court appearance is set for Aug. 22. He was ordered to wear a GPS monitoring system and stay away from children.
