Boston finally seeing heat wave relief
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The sun has set on the stifling heat wave. After seven days of temperatures in the 90s, there is finally some relief.
“It does feel better but it’s still sticky, it’s still warm. But it’s better,” said Jennifer Edwards, who is visiting Boston.
“I mean, 80s are nice, bearable. When it gets up to 99, it’s a little rough,” said Erik Hellmer, who was glad for the cool down.
In some areas strong storms broke the summer fever. At a home in Reading, Pamela Higgins and her daughter made a narrow escape up the front steps when a tree came crashing down.
“It was right after the storm started, so I think the wind, and it was unstable to begin with,” said Higgins.
It took crews hours to clean up in still searing heat. The fallen tree caused minor damage to the porch.
“We’re glad everyone is okay and the main part of the home is okay,” said Higgins.
And in Boston, many are glad their days of baking in the mid-90s are done, at least for now.
