Menino speaks out about Hyde Park homicide
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The homicide in Hyde Park hits close to home for Mayor Thomas Menino. He was born in Hyde Park, and still lives there.
The Mayor said he doesn’t get the feeling that people are afraid to walk around, but he said this killing is a reminder that everyone needs to be aware of what’s going on around them.
He said police are doing everything they can in their investigation, but right now, his thoughts are with Amy Lord’s family.
“I offered my condolences to the Lord family, they’re going through a tragedy they never expected. I will also say the police are doing everything they can, streets are safe to walk around in the city of Boston. When you look at what’s happened, it’s an occasion that’s unforgivable,” said Menino.
The Mayor said police have increased their patrols in South Boston, where Lord lived.
