New video of teens hitching a ride on 93-S
DORCHESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- New video surfaced of two teens hitching a ride on the back of an 18-wheeler driving down 93 South Tuesday morning.
“I was speechless that someone would be doing that,” said one witness.
The driver didn’t want to show his face, but he captured the whole act on video.
“I was shocked and amazed. You don’t see it every day,” he said.
The video gives us a new perspective on the dangerous ride. You can see how fast the truck is moving, the rush-hour traffic and the rainy weather.
State police said those boys didn’t just risk their own lives, they put other drivers in jeopardy too.
But this driver said they showed no fear at all and it even looked like they were having a blast.
“They were having a great time looking around and the side of the road…they were out for the thrill. [They weren’t] scared at all,” said the driver.
Other drivers eventually waved down the trucker, who was unaware of his hitchhikers, and the boys took off.
“It was a little bit of pandemonium with cars stopping and trying to get the driver’s attention and the kids bolting after the truck slowed down. The truck hadn’t even stopped yet and they jumped off and were running,” said the witness.
State police didn’t get any calls about the kids. They said the first time they heard of it was when 7News called them and showed them the photo.
