Officer Collier to be posthumously sworn in Thursday
SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WHDH) -- Fallen MIT Police Officer Sean Collier will be formally introduced as a member of the Somerville Police Department Thursday.
Collier, a Somerville resident, civilian member of the Somerville Police, and member of the Somerville Auxiliary Police, was tragically killed in the line of duty as an MIT Police Officer on April 18 in the wake of the Marathon bombings. He was originally expected to be sworn in as a Somerville Police Officer in June.
Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone, the Somerville Board of Aldermen and Chief of Police Thomas Pasquarello will formally introduce Collier as a member of the Somerville Police Department during the regularly-scheduled Aldermen’s meeting on Thursday.
Members of the Collier family, local and state public officials will be on hand to commemorate the life of Sean Collier, and honor his service to the Somerville community. Collier will be posthumously presented with badge No. 310.
