Jennifer Martel remembered at funeral
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The alleged victim of Jared Remy was remembered Thursday. Dozens of people gathered at a funeral home in Taunton to remember Jennifer Martel.
The wake was opened to visitors from 5-8, but Martel’s services and burial will be private.
Prosecutors said Jared Remy, son of Red Sox announcer Jerry Remy, stabbed 27-year-old Jennifer Martel to death in their Waltham townhouse after being released on personal recognizance, after allegedly assaulting her.
Remy is pleading not guilty to the charges.
Two veteran prosecutors have announced they will take a close look at the case. The Middlesex District Attorney announced the independent review in the wake of criticism of the way her office handled the case.
