4 teens, 2 adults injured in major accident on Arborway
JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. (WHDH) -- An SUV filled with teenagers crossed the median of the Arborway before rolling and hitting a truck. Six people were rushed to the hospital, four of them teenagers.
That stretch of the Arborway in Jamaica Plain was closed for hours while police tried to figure out what led up to the crash.
”It was just mayhem I could hear screaming going on people rushing to the accident,” a witness said. “It was a pretty devastating scene it was like a mini war zone is what it felt like.”
Investigators say this SUV had the teenagers in it, ranging in age from 14 to 17.
“I'm just horrified at what I'm looking at my heart goes out to whoever was in the vehicles I pray they will be ok. It’s just horrific,” Patty Lieber who lives nearby said.
Some teens who said they know the victims came out to see the twisted metal and debris left behind
“It’s unbelievable. You hear about these things but it’s just completely different when it happens to someone who you've met before,” Amy Stykunas said. “I really hope they like get through this as well as they can because it would be so horrible if something like that happened.”
The Arborway was shut down until 9 p.m. causing major traffic backups.
Neighbors say this isn’t something new
“There’s something wrong this street this happens all the time. They don't correct or something but I've heard so many explosions in the middle of the night,” a neighbor said.
