Man arrested in South Boston after stealing police car
SOUTH BOSTON (WHDH) -- One man is in police custody arrest after a wild ride in the streets of South Boston. Investigators say 37-year-old Wilfredo Rodriguez stole a police cruiser, hitting one officer and attempting to hit several more.
Rodriguez was spotted by police breaking into a vehicle on Baxter Street in South Boston. Police pursued Rodriguez on foot who somehow managed to jump into a police vehicle
Police say when Rodriguez hit one officer with the vehicle and tried to hit several others they opened fire.
Rodriguez struck guardrail near the JFK MBTA stop and was eventually arrested after a second foot chase.
Rodriguez was charged with assault and battery by means of dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer and other crimes. He's to be arraigned Monday in South Boston District Court.
