Woman rescued from Davis Square MBTA tracks
SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WHDH) -- A 31-year-old woman is being treated for an arm injury after walking off the platform at the Davis Square MBTA station.
The woman might have been asleep on the bench and she may have allegedly sleepwalked right into the pit of the train.
Passengers nearby rushed down to help the woman and MBTA officials say no trains were near Davis Square at the time.
“It takes one person to do something then everybody else kind of does it. If you see somebody laying in tracks it won't be that hard to go over and help I think. I would help for sure,” one woman said.
“I don't think there is much that can be done. We can't have people, I don't think we have the funding clearly because of the government shut down to like have somebody make sure that people don't fall into the train. I hi it's just more a matter of people trying to stay away from that area,” another woman said.
Officials say the woman was taken to Mass. General Hospital to be treated for a left arm injury.
