Donation site helps replace car flipped by unruly fans
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Police say fans around Fenway were mostly under control Wednesday night after the Sox win, but one unlucky resident of the area had a run-in with some of the unruly fans.
A cell phone video shows a group of people flipping over Chad Duncan’s car during their celebrations.
"I was shocked that it was flipped over. When I went to go this morning to go to work I found the car was gone and spent about an hour on the phone trying to figure out who or where it was," Duncan said.
The car was a lease and his insurance will pay for the damage and everything he owed on it, but Duncan said he still needs a car for his commute to Norwood and getting into a new lease will cost him $2,500.
"Obviously I'm not happy with it, stupid kids, there's no reason to do things like that,” Duncan said.
Thankfully for Duncan, there are good people like Bobby O’Neill.
O’Neill started a fundraiser to help Duncan get into a new car after he saw the video.
"The whole point of the page is they don't represent Boston, they don't represent Red Sox fans. Four or five people flipped a car but how many hundreds of other people didn't do that," O’Neill said.
Early Thursday night the $2,500 Duncan was looking for had already been raised.
