Police looking for suspect in Roxbury shooting

BOSTON -- Police are looking for a suspect who shot a 10-year-old girl in Roxbury on Friday night.
The girl was shot in the leg while standing on the sidewalk on Creston Street with her father. She is expected to survive.
“A 10-year-old girl had been struck by gunfire. She was taken to the Boston Medical Center. Her condition is non-life threatening, and we have an investigation just underway here, we’re processing a crime scene. We’re interviewing any kind of witnesses we can find and we would ask for the support of the community. If you do know anything about this shooting, if you would call crime stoppers,” said Supt. Paul Fitzgerald of the Boston Police Department.
The alleged shooter was riding on a red scooter and firing shots down the street when the girl was wounded. The suspect then jumped off the scooter and fled the scene.
“We was just sitting on the steps right here, and then I heard ‘boom, boom, boom.’ And it sounded like it might’ve been a car...so we ran around the corner, and the dude was sitting right there shooting,” said a witness.
Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-494-TIPS.
