WATERTOWN, Mass. -- Police arrested a man who allegedly licked a woman's foot at a bus stop in Watertown Friday afternoon.

According to police, the woman was at a bus stop around 5:30 p.m. when she was approached by a 19-year-old man who proceeded to remove her shoe, and then lick her foot.

The woman immediately went to an officer on foot patrol at the corner.

Police said the suspect got on a bus, exited another door and then ran across Galen Street dodging traffic.

The officer ran after him and was able to arrest him at the corner of Galen and Aldrich Streets.

Bus riders were surprised to hear the news.

“The fact this dude was able to walk up and take a woman's shoe off and lick her foot, that's strange. You don't think that would happen in downtown Watertown, you know?” said Ryan Brown, who also rides the bus.

The suspect is facing several charges, including assault.

He is due in court on Monday.
