Santa visits sick kids in Boston through Internet

BOSTON -- Who knew Santa Claus was so tech-savvy? Some cool gadgets are serving as Santa's little helpers, letting him connect with kids who are too sick to see him.
Some of the youngest patients at Children’s Hospital worried their wish list wouldn't reach Santa in time for Christmas. But, thanks to the Internet, they were able to have a sit down with Santa.
Santa held the high-tech video conference straight from the North Pole on Wednesday.
“A lot of the kids here are afraid Santa's not going to be able to find them in the hospital, so it's a great way just to reinforce that Santa will find them anywhere,” said Kirsten Getchell of Children’s Hospital.
Many kids will be spending Christmas at Children's for the first time, including Kaylee Sullivan from Abington. She was diagnosed with leukemia last month, which came as a shock to her family.
“She played soccer in the fall...She had her birthday Nov. 14 and they had a skating party. She was fine,” said Mark Sullivan, Kaylee’s father. “It's day by day. Our whole world got turned upside down on Thanksgiving.”
“Kaylee! You look so pretty honey. Even though you have that mask on I can see right through it,” Santa told Kaylee.
Kaylee's best friend Anna showed Santa Kaylee's wish list. Her biggest request is something very modest:
“A Barbie,” said Kaylee.
Her brother Liam loved having face time with the jolly old elf.
“That was really cool. I was waiting for that, ‘cause it was really cool,” said Liam.
Of all the Christmas wishes in the world, Kaylee's family has only one they hope will come true:
“Just for my daughter to get better, that's it,” said Sullivan.
Doctors say patients like Kaylee are more prone to catching colds. That's a big reason why Santa made his visit via cyberspace.
