Couple uses flash mob at Prudential Center wedding
BOSTON -- A local couple tied the knot in a flash at the Prudential Center, using a flash mob to help them get hitched.
It started out of nowhere with someone singing, and then choreographed dancing.
A bride appeared, followed by a groom. All of the Prudential Center was invited to Jon and Caroline’s flash mob wedding.
“We live off the beaten path a little bit, and I think that we wanted to reflect that in way we celebrated our love together,” said Jon Kleiman, the groom.
The couple met in Africa last May. Jon is from Needham, and Caroline is from Belgium. And their whirlwind courtship landed them in the mall on December 12, surrounded by family, friends and shoppers.
“When we were there, we saw all of the people that we love. It was just fun and incredible,” said Caroline Kleiman, the bride.
A video of the dance steps came with the wedding invitation, and there was just one rehearsal the morning of the wedding.
“It was sloppy and the dancing was terrible, and for that it was perfect,” said Jon Kleiman.
There may have been some jitters, but they were danced out by the time the couple exchanged vows.
“It was exactly what we imagined,” said Caroline.
And while they never expected their wedding video would go viral, they love that it could spread some joy.
“People sort of came to the mall on their normal trajectories, and the idea was to hit them with a bit of magic,” said Jon Kleiman.
While the wedding was a very public affair, the honeymoon was a private one in Maine.
