Medford man scammed by a mother and son
MEDFORD, Mass. -- A Medford man's trust is broken after getting scammed by a mother and her son.
According to Medford police, 51-year-old Dorothy Ingemi and her 21-year-old son Nicolas Matthews rented out a basement apartment that didn't belong to them through Craigslist.
The pair was staying with an elderly man in a house. They claimed they were getting millions in inheritance, and would pay off the man's house in return for letting them stay with him.
That’s when they turned around and tried to rent the place out without the owner knowing.
"She had problems, you know…I feel bad for her now, really. But I mean, I can't feel bad for her. If I had to testify against her I’d want her to do 10 years," said the home owner.
The homeowner went on to say the Ingemi's also stole blank checks, forcing him to change his account numbers.
