Health officials speak on 5 new cases of measles

BOSTON -- Health officials spoke on Wednesday about five new cases of measles. One of the patients is an employee at South Station.
Health experts reassured us on Wednesday, there's no reason to panic over the recent spike in measles cases.
They confirmed 5 new cases in the past week.
Only one is a Boston resident. Another is a man who worked at South Station while contagious. The other patients were all visitors to the city.
State health officials warn we may see a rise in measles cases because Europe is currently dealing with an outbreak.
“We have five cases that were confirmed, where people had been in Boston, either seeking medical care or because they live in the city. It’s not unusual during an outbreak, but again, cause for concern because we want people to know, please get yourself immunized if you haven’t been immunized and also watch for symptoms if you haven’t been immunized,” said Dr. Barbara Ferrer, Executive Director of Boston Public Health Commission.
If you develop symptoms you should see a doctor immediately.
