GQ: Boston worst dressed city in country

BOSTON -- A fashion faux pas? The city of Boston is finding itself on top of a list of the worst dressed in the country.
According to GQ Magazine, Bostonians aren’t quite up to code when it comes to what they wear. This is getting quite the reaction from people around the Hub.
“I think that’s a falsehood people look nice here,” said Jerry Musen.
The evidence laid out by GQ includes a dig at Boston: “Boston is like America’s Bad-Taste Storm Sewer: All the worst fashion ideas from across the country flow there, stagnate, and putrefy.”
“I don’t think that’s correct. That’s definitely not correct. We have some nice dressed people here, including yourself sir,” Matt Ferreira told 7’s Ryan Schulteis.
GQ basically says Boston has no style and everyone is dressed too casual.
“I don’t buy that. I’ve lived all over the country, Milwaukee, Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Princeton, New Jersey - People are dressed as well or better here than anywhere,” said Ferreira.
“I think that’s awful I think Boston has a lot of good stores - a lot of good styles around town so they shouldn’t be saying that,” said Billy Calhoun.
“Look at me! I beg to differ. I don’t think it’s the worst dressed,” said Sydney Harris.
But the Harris, a stylist, said there is room for improvement and has simple advice: “People care more about appearance, basically.”
There are some, though, who think Boston might be living up to GQ’s harsh assessment.
“I would tend to agree with GQ! I hate to say it but I think it’s true!” said Mark Rubin. “There’s sort of laid back in terms of dress. Nobody really cares it’s the rain and the water, so I think everyone dresses fairly casually.”
