Survey says: Boston -- least friendly city

BOSTON, Mass. -- A new survey claims Boston as the least friendly of the major cities. The survey, conducted by two psychologists, measured characteristics like gratitude and kindness. Its release came days after the announcement of another Boston epithet -- worst-dressed city in America.
The study ranked Boston meaner than New York and noted a link between warmness of weather with warmness of personality.
“I think they’re nice too,” said Anthony More, a Beantown visitor talking about the residents from his native city of New York. “I think they get a bad rap.”
New Yorkers and Bostonians might have something in common. They’re populations that are misunderstood, according to More.
“The only thing they don’t have in common is baseball,” he said. “Otherwise, we’re okay.”
Lauren Cadish, of Boston, said:
“I think the people in Boston are just harder to get to know. But once you get to know them, they’re very pleasant.”
Samantha Hanamin, of Boston, said:
“I think it’s toughness actually. Say you grow up in Dorchester or Roxbury, you have to be tough.”
