2 women shot, killed in Roxbury apartment building
BOSTON -- Police found two women shot and killed in their Roxbury apartment on Monday morning.
Police said several people called 911 after hearing gunshots coming from an apartment building. Police responded to 50 Harlem Street where they found two sisters -- one 20, the other 21 years old -- dead.
The sister’s lived in the apartment together, according to family members. The victims’ family said they don’t understand how this could have happened to the two women.
“At approximately 9:15 a.m., police responded to 50 Harlem Street regarding people shot,” said Supt. Bruce Holloway of the Boston Police Department. “On arrival, emergency services along with the Boston police found the bodies of two females who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.”
Neighbors said they are surprised this happened in their quiet neighborhood. But others said, while the homes are quiet, the apartment building the victims lived in is not.
“There’s a lot of partying around there, so I wouldn’t really doubt it,” said one neighbor.
There are no suspects in custody and no known motive. Officials are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist them in the investigation.
“Any information that you might be able to add to help us in this investigation. It’s just really important that we have help with the community in this,” said Holloway.
“I’m just urging that anyone in the public, whether they live in this community or not, come forward, cooperate with the police and make sure whoever committed this crime is brought to justice,” said Charles Yancy, Boston City Councilor.
Police went door-to-door on Monday as the continued to investigate the crime. They are asking anyone with information to contact them.
