Woman allegedly assaulted in Franklin Park

DORCHESTER, Mass. -- A young mother was allegedly sexually assaulted while walking in Franklin Park on Monday.

Police say a woman was walking in Franklin Park at 1:30 in the afternoon when a man approached her from behind. At that time, the woman was pushing her child in a stroller. Officers say there was a physical struggle, the suspect sexually assaulted the woman, then ran off. It is unclear if there were any witnesses.

Boston Police immediately converged on Franklin Park. They scoured the grounds but never found the man. The victim was rushed to the hospital. Her child was unharmed.

The Boston Police Sexual Assault Unit is now on the case. 7News was told Boston Police plan to add extra patrols in the Franklin Park area for the next couple of days.
