BOSTON -- A special guest was in the audience at the Boston Ballet's "The Nutcracker.”

Twelve-year-old Kyrah from West Yarmouth suffers from a heart problem but has always wanted to be a ballerina.

The Make-a-Wish foundation not only arranged for her to take ballet classes, but she also got to spend time with some of the performers backstage Sunday night.

"This makes her feel better, you know, and this is better than medicine,” Kyrah’s father, Brian Mendes, said. “Medicine is man-made but miracles and wishes are gifts from above, you know."

Kyrah also got a special gift basket from the Sugar Plum Fairy with a charm and a crystal ballerina.
