Wahlberg's comments anger 9/11 families

CHARLESTOWN, Mass. -- Mark Wahlberg apologized for remarks he made in an interview in Men’s Journal about the September 11th attacks.
In the interview, Wahlberg talked about what would have happened on Sept. 11 if he had been on board Flight 93. Many found the remarks shocking and insensitive.
“I wish that this was a movie and that my horrific movie was over but 10 years in we're still living this nightmare,” said Danielle Lemack, whose mother was killed on 9/11.
Danielle Lemack lost her mother, Judy Larocque, on American Airlines Flight 11. She says Mark Wahlberg's comments that he could have somehow saved the day on 9/11 is a movie star's distorted reality.
“A comment like that undermines and belittles everything that everyone has gone through,” said Lemack.
In a quote right above his old underwear ad, Wahlberg told Men's Journal:
"If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn't have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, 'Okay, we're going to land somewhere safely, don't worry.'"
“It read like a script didn't it? If I were there, there would have been this and that, and there would have been blood -- it wasn't a cartoon, it was real,” said David Hasting of the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund.
Hastings says there were numerous heroic acts that day and beyond. Wahlberg did issue a statement to 7News saying:
"To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with, and to suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible. I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention."
To which Lemack says -- the apology is fine, but Wahlberg could do more.
“If terrorism is something of interest to him, then there are so many ways he can voice his opinion and really lend his celebrity status to true causes to try to help prevent terrorism,” Lemack said.
The Global Survivors Network is an organization Lemack is very passionate about and she says it could use the celebrity status and expertise of Mark Wahlberg.
