Boston police website restored 6 days after hack

BOSTON -- Boston police say the department's website has been restored, six days after it was hacked and defaced by a group that criticized the police handling of the Occupy Boston movement.
Bpdnews.com was back up and running Thursday.
The hacking collective Anonymous claimed credit for hacking the website last Friday.
Occupy Boston, an outgrowth of the Occupy Wall Street movement, set up camp in the city's financial district for two months this fall. Police dismantled the camp Dec. 10, citing public health and safety concerns.
Anonymous is a collection of Internet enthusiasts, pranksters and activists whose targets have included law enforcement agencies.
A spokeswoman said police apologize for the disruption. She said members of the community can also connect with the police department through Facebook and Twitter.
