Analysis: Mattapan Massacre verdict

BOSTON (WHDH) -- The jury in the Mattapan quadruple murder trial was deadlocked on murder charges against one defendant Thursday, leading to a mistrial. The mistrial means Dwayne Moore will be retried for the charges against him.

7News’ legal analyst Tom Hoopes said that the prosecution’s star witness, who admitted to the robberies but not the murders, could have impacted the jurors.

“When the best witness you have is the witness who is cooperating but may have been there you can only put him, as the prosecutor, as the best evidence, do the best you can and leave it to the jury,” said Hoopes.

Hoopes said he was stunned by the outcome of the trial.
