BOSTON (AP) -- Boston police say a Target store in the South Bay shopping center was been temporarily closed after a man shot at another location walked in seeking help.

Police Superintendent Ken Fong said at the scene Wednesday evening that the 23-year-old man was shot inside his car on Southampton Street in the Dorchester neighborhood and drove to the nearby shopping center. Fong said the man is in stable condition at a hospital.

Nuri Chandler of the Roxbury neighborhood told The Boston Globe she was shopping at about 6:15 p.m. when a man walked in trailing blood, and said he'd been shot. She said the man appeared to have a wound near his left shoulder and was calm. She said store employees sat the man in a chair and called police.
