CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (WHDH) -- Two men were arrested after they allegedly robbed a cab driver and shot him with a pellet gun on Sunday.
The cab driver was wounded when he says he was shot with a pellet gun by two men during the robbery.
The cab driver says the suspects, Shawn Hickey and Brian Cunneen, told him to drive to Charlestown and then pull over near Washington Street.
“And he said, ‘Give me all the money you have in your pocket,’ I said, ‘What?’ He said, ‘Yeah, give me all your money,’ I turn over and see the gun right to my face,” the cab driver said.
That's when the driver says he decided to fight back.
“I just grabbed his hand and I pulled the gun out of my face and I get out of the cab,” he said.
But as he struggled with the suspects, police say one of the suspects drove the car forward, hitting two parked cars.
“He go to the wheel…when he drive, he go hit another car. When I grab him down he keep shooting. He keep shooting and he hit me maybe five, six times,” the cab driver said.
That's when the driver says the second suspect ran back to the cab, grabbed flowers he had left in the back seat, and both men took off running.
Neighbors heard the struggle and called 911. Police found the two suspects after a long foot chase.
Both were arraigned in court on charges including armed carjacking and robbery.
Both suspect will stay in jail until their next court date.
