MILTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police arrested a suspect accused of leading police on a chase from Roxbury to Milton, which came to an end after the suspect wedged his car between a truck and a sidewalk on Wednesday.

Police said the suspect shot a man, who is in his early 20s, in the stomach at the intersection of Ruggles Street and Dewitt Drive in Roxbury.

“I thought it was firecrackers, but too close. It was a different sound all together,” said Bobby Taylor, a neighbor.

The suspect fled after the shooting, but he was spotted by Boston police and the chase ensued. The suspect was taken into custody after he wedged his car in between a landscaping truck and the sidewalk in Milton.

“I just seen his car screeching around the corner out of control,” said Carmen Zanghi, a witness. “I thought it was going to hit me head on -- then last minute tried to get in between me and I wasn’t moving, but at the last minute tried to get in between me and I wasn’t moving because I hit my brakes because I thought he was going to hit me head on…Crazy, absolutely crazy. He was flying.”

Officials are still investigating the incident. They are looking into possible surveillance video that could have captured the crash in Milton.

The suspect faces multiple charges including attempted murder. The victim is in the hospital being treated, but he is expected to survive.
