BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Best Buddies challenge in Hyannisport is just one week away, and 7’s Adam Williams has been busy training for the bike ride.
The race starts in Boston and ends on Cape Cod. Adam will be part of Tom Brady’s team.
The Patriots quarterback is an active supporter of the Best Buddies program which helps create friendships between volunteers and people with intellectual disabilities.
Before the ride next Saturday, there's a celebrity football game on Friday night at Harvard. Last year 7's Dylan Dreyer played in the game. She even caught a pass from Tom Brady!
Buddies participate in the game and chairman and founder Anthony Shriver tells 7News they even train for it.
"The buddies are great. You know, Tom, some of these buddies are catching 30 or 40 yard passes. Really excited, some of them play recreational football, some of them have flag football teams of their own," Shriver said. "We train a lot of them a couple weeks out to get ready for the game. And they know real plays. Tom's fantastic with them and hits them for passes."
Best Buddies also sponsors rides in California and Washington, D.C. they hope to get one started in Miami next year.
