SOUTH BOSTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- A body was found in the water off of Castle Island in South Boston Monday morning.
Police tape and patrol cars were an unpleasant change to the normal landscape of Castle Island.
“I knew there was something different because I’m out here every morning. When I saw the news cars and cops I knew something bad happened,” said John Connors, who walks Castle Island.
Boston and state police responded to the beach near the sailing center after a man’s body was found floating in the water 10 to 20 feet off shore. Divers pulled the boy ashore.
The man was fully clothed. Investigators said they made a tentative identification through items found on the adult male.
It is not know how the man ended up there. Some speculate it was a tragic accident.
“If anything its like my dad said, somebody either fell, hit their head, fell in the water, because we come here every morning and it’s not like you see a body being dragged out every morning. Just whoever it was, rest in peace,” said Matthew Dapkas, who walks Castle Island.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office is also involved in the investigation.
The man’s identity will not be released until his family has been notified.
