BOSTON (WHDH) -- Service was restored to the Blue Line Wednesday morning after downed electrical lines caused significant delays Tuesday night.

Crews worked overnight to fix the problem and shuttle buses had to be used to move passengers between Maverick and Wonderland stations.

The wire came down near Revere Beach Station at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“The wires came down and smashed the window,” passenger Ken Finkelstein said. “So the wires were all over the train.”

Officials say approximately 120 passengers had to be evacuated from the train and escorted to the station after the wire came down.

The MBTA says there was an previous wire problem on the Blue Line but that it was repaired and was not related to Tuesday night’s problem.

Despite the delays, passengers said they were thankful no one was hurt.
