South Boston stabbing leaves boyfriend reeling

SOUTH BOSTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- A South Boston stabbing has left one woman dead and another in jail. People who knew the victim are shocked by the brutal crime.
“I miss her terribly already. And I’m gonna miss her every day for the rest of my life,” said her boyfriend, Richard Mackie.
Mackie said he tried stop the bleeding after his girlfriend was stabbed Friday night in the living room of his apartment at the old colony housing development. Mackie says he raced from his bedroom to help her.
“I got up I walked over here. The door was slammed. And Shannon was laying right here.”
The 38-year-old mother of five was pronounced dead at Boston Medical Center. Police have charged a 20-year-old with her murder. Mackie said his girlfriend used to babysit the woman that police suspect killed her.
“I just don't understand why she would stick a knife in the person who helped bring her up.”
Mackie said he isn't sure what led to the stabbing. He described playing cards with another man and the two women. He says there was some playful fighting before, somehow, it turned deadly.
“I’m missing her terribly. I loved her so much. I loved her so much I really do.”
