Lawyer: DiMasi denied treatment for cancer in prison

BOSTON (WHDH) -- An attorney says former house speaker Sal DiMasi is battling tongue cancer, and the disease spread because he was denied medical care in prison for months.

DiMasi's lawyer says his client was first tested in January, but then not re-examined again until April.

DiMasi is appealing a corruption conviction.

He is currently serving an eight-year sentence.
