BOSTON (WHDH) -- Temperatures were expected to be in the 90s for the third day in a row Friday, and the heat had residents yet again searching for ways to keep cool.
One option? Rent an air conditioning unit for $150!
"The phones are ringing off the hook and our web traffic has been through the roof so we're just trying our best to handle it the best we can," said Brij Patel.
Business is hot at Rent An AC. They've installed hundreds of window units around Boston since Wednesday meaning lots of overtime for installer Jim Amon.
“It's good for the paycheck,” Amon said.
While some businesses boomed, others boiled.
Imagine working the 500-degree brick oven at Antico Forno in the North End.
“It's around 100 and something right now. That’s why I’ve got my little fan over there,” said Mylar Aguilar.
There was a little relief in the kitchen where the thermostat read 99 degrees.
“I have to go back to the kitchen and wet my head with cold water,” Aguilar said.
As everyone tried to beat the heat, 7News found a few brave souls in Cambridge trying to break a sweat.
Despite doctors advising not to work out in the heat, Charoscar Cole said, “They would if you’re not physically up to it. But I’m fit, I go to the doctor every year and if you do it within limits and pre-hydrate, you’ll be fine.”
