Police: Boston drug ring busted, 14 arrested
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Boston police say they have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of drugs off the streets in a massive drug ring bust.
Officers have arrested 14 people accused of operating a cocaine distribution ring.
The arrests were made following a 13-month investigation.
Police seized guns, drugs, and $170,000 cash in Boston, Canton and Milton.
Police say the total amount of money seized, counting frozen assets, is more than $400,000.
“It is the largest investigation and take down of a Boston-area drug trafficking organization that I can recall,” Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said.
“We are doing what we promised that we would do with this arrest: We are holding people accountable for the violent activity that they are responsible for,” Police Commissioner Ed Davis said.
Investigators say this drug ring was responsible for shipping hundreds of pounds of cocaine throughout Boston each year.
