Drunk driver crashes into state trooper

WOBURN, Mass. (WHDH) -- A state trooper was rushed to the hospital after a woman, who police say was drunk, slammed into his cruiser.

State police said the woman was arrested at the scene for operating under the influence.

The crash happened just after midnight on Interstate-93 south in Stoneham. It appears the car the woman was driving rear-ended the state police cruiser, causing significant damage.

The trooper involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital. He was treated and released.

The suspect is due in court on Friday.
